FYI, I am scheduled to give a talk to Google's tech staff on AGI and Novamente, later in the month...
I believe Eliezer may be speaking there sometime soon, also... -- Ben On 5/13/07, Joshua Fox <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

But note that Peter Norvig, Google's director of research and a top guru in narrow AI, is scheduled to speak at SIAI's next Singularity Summit This does not mean that he agrees with everything that SIAI folks say, but it does mean that he takes the organization and its ideas seriously. To me, this, together with other seemingly AGI-positive statements out of Google, mean that Google does not unanimously dismiss AGI as nonsense, and may even understand its value. And so, if pre-superhuman AGI has any commercial value, and if Google willing to invest in speculative ventures -- both of which seem to be true -- I would be surprised if Google did not soon fund AGI research.
