Yes. But note that Peter Norvig, Google's director of research and a
top guru in narrow AI, is scheduled to speak at SIAI's next
Singularity Summit

This does not mean that he agrees with everything that SIAI folks say,
but it does mean that he takes the organization and its ideas
seriously.

To me, this, together with other seemingly AGI-positive statements out
of Google, mean that Google does not unanimously dismiss AGI as
nonsense, and may even understand its value.

And so, if pre-superhuman AGI has any commercial value, and if Google
willing to invest in speculative ventures -- both of which seem to be
true --  I would be surprised if Google did not soon fund AGI
research.
