Hello all,

It has been stated that proxy servers route and forward information
according the Request-URI field. There is a doubt arising here, does it mean
that they query the REGISTER or Location server according to the Request-URI
field in the SIP Request.

If the above is the case, then can someone please help me with the
scenario described below ::-

The user is in "xyz.com" domain and he is planning to go to "abc.com",
but right now he does not know the guestid which he'll get at "abc.com"
domain. He registers at the "xyz.com" SIP Registrar, with only the address
of the proxy at "abc.com", by saying :

        REGISTER xyz.com
        To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ........
        Contact : abc.com <the other networks proxy address>

Now when he reaches the other domain, he gets a temporary SIP id "guest"
for that domain and he registers in the "abc.com" register by saying :

         REGISTER abc.com
         To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
         ...........
Contact : [EMAIL PROTECTED] <the new id he has got>.

Now any request coming to [EMAIL PROTECTED], will first go to "xyz.com" proxy
and from there it will get proxied to "abc.com", where the proxy can search
the REGISTER or Location with the help of "To" header field and contact the
user accordingly.

Please help me out, understand the scenario and please correct me if i
have incorrectly assumed something. Please help me out. I am quite confused
at the moment.

    Thanking you,
        rahul
