Hi,

There have been a few proposals for this over time. However, none have been
"accepted" in the IETF as standard mechanisms. There is one current
proposal for transporting RFC 2833 encoded tone data in SIP. It's described
in
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-mahy-sipping-signaled-digits-00.tx
t. I do know of a proposal being developed to transport "key events" in SIP.
An application of the mechanism can be used to transport user input
indications. It does *not* deal with DTMF though. The first draft is near
completion and should be announced soon.

Regards,
Bert

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Out of band DTMF

Once out of band DTMF could have been sent through the INFO method.
According to rfc 2976 the INFO is not used to change the state of SIP calls.
Is there a way to transport out of band DTMF in SIP?
Thank you
