Hello, Fax pass-through most probably goes through perceptual codecs which are optimized for dealing with speech (Important speech frequency components). In that case, fax is heavily distorted. T.38 support resolves this, but fax pass-thorough is still needed anyway, for enabling fax transmission, although distorted, at least. Just one of many advantages of course. hope this helps,
