I have some basic questions. Can someone help-me? 1) Does a Proxy Server be always a software? 2) How can an User Agent Client know a Proxy Server IP address, when it is necessary to send an INVITE? What I wonder is the way an UAC discover the proxy's ip. 3) If an UAC knows the IP of several proxies, what proxy should be chosen to the UAC send the INVITE? That is: is there any policy to choose a proxy? 4) Who or what software is responsible to pass a proxy IP to a UAC, if the UAC needs a proxy? 5) Can I replace a DNS server of a Proxy with a data base (like MySQL) containing the values URL / IP , since my proxy server can access such data from the data base? 6) Lets suppose my address is: sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I have an IP Phone here in Inatel. But, next week I'm going to travel to another country, where I will have to use IP Phones too. In the other country, should I register the sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] again? If yes, have I to choose a new proxy, running in some machine there? If I choose a new proxy there, how can the old proxy know about it and update its registrar records? 7)Lets suppose a Proxy Server's DNS server doesn't have the IP of a called UAS and any other information. That is, the proxy receiving an INVITE knows nothing about the domain of the called person. In this case, the proxy will decide to redirect the invite to other proxy. But, in this case, what another proxy could be an appropriate proxy for that. How to decide it? Any hint will be very helpful! Thanks. Rodrigo Pimenta Carvalho.
