Hi All,
As per the grammar of email line/phone line
*("e=" email-address CRLF)
email-address := email | email "(" email-safe ")" | email-safe "<" email ">"
*("p=" phone-number CRLF)
phone-number := phone | phone "(" email-safe ")" | email-safe "<" phone ">"
The grammar email "(" email-safe ")" and phone "(" email-safe ")"
allows only one character in COMMENTS(as per the grammar of email-safe)
However RFC2327 states that:
" Both email addresses and phone numbers can have an optional free
text string associated with them, normally giving the name of the
person who may be contacted. This should be enclosed in
parenthesis if it is present. For example:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Mark Handley)
"
So the doubt here is (Mark Handley) is "(email-safe)" or COMMENT. If its
comment, then is it valid that you can have two comments, one having just
a single character for email-safe and other having free text.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (a) (Mark Handley)
Also the above confusion is for first character being email-safe/free-text.
As per RFC2327:
" The alternative RFC822 name quoting convention is also allowed for
both email addresses and phone numbers. For example,
e=Mark Handley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
The free text string should be in the ISO-10646 character set with
UTF-8 encoding, or alternatively in ISO-8859-1 or other encodings
if the appropriate charset session-level attribute is set.
"
Please comment on the above.
