Hi all,
I have a doubt regarding dialog matching using To and From Tag for the
request or response at the server (Lets take the case of B2B server)
According to section 12.1 of RFC 3261 =>
"Dialogs are created through the generation of non-failure responses
to requests with specific methods. Within this specification, only
2xx and 101-199 responses with a To tag, where the request was
INVITE, will establish a dialog"
According to section 12.1.2 UAC behavior in RFC 3261 =>
"A UAC MUST be prepared to receive a response without a tag
in the To field, in which case the tag is considered to have
a value of null.
This is to maintain backwards compatibility with RFC 2543, which
did not mandate To tags."
In rfc 2543, the dialog matching used to be done based on URIs, as
there was no concept of Tags.
RFC 3261 also mandates the To Tag in 200 OK final response but does
not mandates the same in provisional responses. To Tag may or may
not come in provisional responses.
For the server where dialog matching is done for every request or
response, if its to be backward compatible to RFC 2543 what will
be stand for dialog comparision w.r.t To Tag & From Tag?
Is that server should not take To Tag and From Tag into consideration
while matching the dialog ? What about in case where the B2B is trying
to establish the call between two end-points where one is RFC 2543
compliant and another RFC 3261 compliant?
Thanks in advance.
Rgds,
Gururaj K.
