When our stack makes the following call, we always get the following error (we used a real domain for "ab.cd.com"):
[...]
After this line of code we always get S_resolvLib_TRY_AGAIN although the stack later on succeeds in resolving it through A records of the dns server. Does anybody have any idea why the SRV lookup is failing at the OS level in VxWorks 5.5 while the A record is successful. Mind you the SRV records are not even being sent out on the wire ---- it gets stopped at the OS layer.
Talk to your OS vendor; the DNS library on the OS may not support the SRV RR extension. I have also seen enterprise firewalls that stop DNS lookups of QTYPE=SRV, mostly out of ignorance rather than intent; although in your case, this seems not to be the case. - vijay -- Vijay K.
