You mention IMS, so let me add the following point.

According to the IMS service control model, the subscriber profile will
identify
any services (like gaming, video streaming, etc.) that require user
registration.
The user's terminal sends a single REGISTER request. The S-CSCF looks
up their subscriber profile and forwards the REGISTER request on to any
application server's that need it. (See 3GPP TS 24.229, Section 5.4.1).

So, short answer ... a single REGISTER request registers the user with all
of their services. At least, that's the architectural intent, per IMS specs.
