Multicast is deliberatelly underspecified in SIP because it might leadto wrong 
behaviour in the FSMs of the UA{C|S}.
Multicast is only mentioned in RFC3261 and I have not seen any otherietf 
document about broadcast...
Section 10.2.6 Discovering a RegistrarRFC3261 only mentions one goal: to 
discover a registrar by sending amulticast REGISTER request to the sip 
multicast address 224.0.1.75(check Section 10.2.6 Discovering a 
Registrar).RFC3261 also incorporated the ;maddr header parameter which 
hasspecial treatment in the routing.
Personally I would discourage the use of multicast|broadcast but ifyour 
requirements force you to use it, don't expect much compliancywith other SIP 
equipment.
