Hi, No, it is NOT an unnecessary hop, if the next hop is the endpoint! The proxy even knows that the next target is one of its own endpoints. And this endpoint isn't going to drop the request. And even if the proxy doesn't know the next hop, it can never be sure that the receiver will drop the request.
