It is commendable that there are serious efforts to standardized SMS-2-SIP .
Hope the 3GPP IMS route will be easily implementable, since 3G IMS as it
currently stands, requires(40 boxes and 120 interfaces :-) ..kidding )

If you want something now, with flexibility.. look into OpenSER/Kannel and
maybe add GSM/GPRS modems...
