I cannot easily tell from 3261 whether references to URIs other than the Request URI must be encased in "<" and ">" or not, probably because I do not know how to read BNF.
In other words, in the absence of a display name (which would be a quoted string), is this valid? Contact: sip:xx.xxx.xx.xxx:5060 What about this? To: sip:xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5060 I was under the impression it was not, but this is mainly because I've never seen any implementation NOT use that notation regardless of whether it is necessary. I do not know if the rules here are more or less strict than RFC 2822.
