1) The Registration renewal can have a new unique value for the nonce. It can also have an empty nonce value? 2) Since this is only registration renewal, even if it fails with 401, the call should not be dropped until the original registration expires. ________________________________ 1) No, the nonces used in a request are supplied by the far-end. The best practice is to use the nonce that was most recently received from the far-end. Lacking that, the request could omit the nonce, which would cause the request to fail with 40x in some situations where it might otherwise have succeeded. 2) The call should *never* be dropped because a registration expires (unless there is some 3GPP perversion that requires it). The registration does not expire because the REGISTER failed; in fact a failed request never causes any change in the larger state of the system.
