Funny you say that. A backup system is "down" and I'm working on it. Fruity broadcom junk, Intel all the way.
If Johny's Dell had a broadcom 5708, it is "known" by me to be entirely unreliable, causing panic and reboots. Oerhaps disabling the onboard NIC and using an Intel will yield better results. While its not all about the hardware, the most problematic issues with linux are more pointedly the NIC (these days). ============================ Tony Graziano, Manager Telephone: 434.984.8430 Fax: 434.984.8431 Email: tgrazi...@myitdepartment.net LAN/Telephony/Security and Control Systems Helpdesk: Telephone: 434.984.8426 Fax: 434.984.8427 Helpdesk Contract Customers: http://www.myitdepartment.net/gethelp/ ----- Original Message ----- From: sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org <sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org> To: sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org <sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org> Sent: Wed Feb 24 11:13:17 2010 Subject: Re: [sipx-users] Recommended servers +1 I have never had any issues with HP servers except for the occasional failed hard drive and one fan needing replaced. I have a DL-360 G5 w/8 cores and 16GB RAM (most of that power is for when we do the full ~700 phone deployment) Backing that up is a DL-140 G3 w/4 cores and 8GB RAM running the HA proxy I'll be installing another HA proxy at a remote site for ~200 extensions that's an ML-150 G5 w/4 cores and 2GB RAM All have aftermarket Intel NIC's (I don't trust Broadcom in Linux which is what's built onboard on most of the HP servers) Some might say that's overkill but I say it's just preparation for expansion/upgrades (like DimDim).
