Due to the really crappy copper infrastructure in my area analog phone
lines have a lot of issues (mainly with echo and voice cutting out) with
audiocodes gateways which is remedied by tuning the incoming and
outgoing gain. If the voice gain is too high there is a lot of cutting
out and echo. The side effect of going to low on the gain (in or out) is
sometimes the "voice activity detector" doesn't ever realize there is
someone on the other side of the line, effectively leaving the call in
an early media state (the timer on the phone never starts, the call
isn't "officially" connected) which eventually disconnects.

What I would like to do is disable voice activity detection altogether
and have the call connected immediately and the timer started when an
outbound call is made, no early media involved. I have tried playing
with all sorts of settings in the Audiocodes but nothing seems to make
this happen. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
