I had opened an issue a while back about the dial by name called "dial by
name issues". I have found that if you press two buttons at a time and the
second button is 1, 2 or is one of the group selected, the dial by name will
send you off to that selection without you intending to go there. In other
words you may get the wrong extension. If the dial by name is going to give
you a list of names than there should be some kind of pause so it does not
accept an input unexpectedly.

Now that I re-read that JIRA and understand it, I think that would be
sufficient. I think the biggest problem is when the dial-by-name switches
to list mode after one keystroke, when the user is expecting to type at
least two or three.

I logged in and added my vote.

I think if you are not satisfied with what
http://track.sipfoundry.org/browse/XX-9346 tries to do, you should either
comment on it or open an enhancement request in the JIRA and ask people to
vote for it.
