Read the compilation section of help, it explains why wxCommunicator currently doesn't run on linux. It shouldn't be a lot of work, but I currently don't have time to do it, as its not just compiling wxCommunicator but also testing sipxtapi in linux. I would welcome if somebody made it run on linux.
Post the patch for sipxezphone in jira bugtracker of sipfoundry. I wouldn't recommend adding any new features into sipxezphone as the architecture of the program is unnecessarily complicated and wxCommunicator is much ahead of sipxezphone in terms of functionality. Also have a look at crosstalk - http://www.sgssoft.com/crosstalk/crosstalk.asp a softphone for windows from a guy named logan here in mailinglist. It's only for windows and doesn't have all the functionality of wxCommunicator but has nicer skin (I admit that!).
