Adding G729 technical support to SIPXTAPI is quite easy using the Intel IPP
library.

However, I never found the way to properly license G729 for a reasonable
fee, and if you don't have any license, you can't use G729 other than for
testing purposes.

http://www.sipro.com/g7291_licterms.php

--> Initial fee is $7500.
--> License fee per channel = $0.99
--> Minimum annual license fee = $5000

For Asterisk, there is a company called Digium that sells G729 licenses per
channel ($10). I thought I could buy licenses from them, and use those
licenses with SIPXTAPI... However, it's clearly stated in their policy:

http://www.digium.com/en/docs/G729/g729policy.php

" The indemnification for patents and copyright infringement of the G.729
standard covers Digium's products only."

If you find any other way, I would be glad to hear from you.

Hi all,

I am sorry if i ask a question that is asked before.

I want to use G.729 codec for encoding in my application. My application
uses sipxtapi. So, how can i add this support? Where can is handle G.729
codec? How does it licensed? How will i integrate it to sipxtapi?

Can you guide me to add G.729 support to my application?

Thanks for any help.

Celalettin
