I ran into a problem and I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.
I'm using SI 4.0.2 to re-image clients that are running SLES 8 SP3.
The re-imaging goes through without any problems.
But when the client reboots, the / partition does not report the correct size.
When I try to run parted on the disk I get the following error message:
Warning: Unable to align partition properly. This probably means that another
partitioning tool generated an incorrect partition table, because it didn't have
the correct BIOS geometry. It is safe to ignore, but ignoring may cause
(fixable) problems with some boot loaders.
I was using SI 3.2.3 previously without any problems.
I was confused by the older version of SI worked without any problems. But I
think I might have found the problem.
SI 3.2.3 used the 2.4 kernel, same as SLES 8. SI 4.0.2 uses the 2.6 kernel.
Would I be wrong in guessing that my problem is that a partition table created
under a 2.6 kernel is formatted differently so that a 2.4 kernel doesn't read
it properly?
If so, any ideas on how I can get around this, if posslbe?
We upgraded to SI 4.0.2 because of support for natsemi network cards out of
the box,
and the time to re-image a client went down from 20 minutes to about 5.
