As there are a lot of view settings to consider, and by themselves they are
a bit abstract, we thought it better not to clutter the prefs with a lot of
half-meaningless controls for all the separate settings. Instead you can
save the current view settings of a PDF you're viewing from the View menu,
so that it will be used for all the documents you open. See the Wiki (Tips
and Tricks) for more about this.

When I first downloaded Skim it was because I read somewhere that it was
the only PDF app that could be set to automatically open documents zoomed in

because I was sick of having to zoom in every time I opened a PDF (I have an
Intel 20" iMac, so the screen is pretty big). I subsequent versions this
feature seems to have disappeared. I have futzed with the preferences, but
I cannot find a way to automatically open documents zoomed in to, say, 135%
so I can read the text without having to manually zoom in. Am I missing
something?
