I see the same behavior. Using the hand, the contextual menu selects a  
word; the selection doesn't go away until the text tool is used to  
click somewhere else.

It looks like the preview contextual menu has more choices than skim  
does that apply to a given word, such as "look up in dictionary."  
Maybe that's why this was thought to be the right behavior?
