This only occurs in PDF Kit on 10.5, and is not limited to Intel.  The likely 
purpose is to show you the scope of the dictionary/spotlight/google lookup 
since it's not guaranteed to be a word, but it's weird that it does this in the 
hand mode as well as text mode.
