Hi Christiaan,
If you turn on VoiceOver buy hitting "command F 5" all of these key
commands become available for a complete list of VoiceOver commands
just hit "command F7" this presents a list of all VoiceOver commands.
Every command is preceded with holding down "control and option" keys
these are affectionately called VO keys. Any where your at you can
always hit VO and the letter h twice to bring up Commands list
available for that thing you're currently on top of.
If you want to you can run the VoiceOver Quick Start located in the
VO f7 menu. Or by hitting "control option command f 8" this will walk
you through how VoiceOver works .
To move focus of the mouse to VoiceOver cursor hit "command option
control f5" this will move mouse to VO cursor.
To move VoiceOver cursor to mouse location hit "option control shift f5"
Keyboard focus to VoiceOver cursor " VO command f4"
There are several ways to click mouse With VoiceOver first way
below.
control option shift space bar"
control option shift then hit space bar" twice to get double click
you can also click mouse by using "num pad commander " function of
VoiceOver when this is activated the #5 on num pad becomes a mouse
click,
What I have had to do in skim is to use the "mouse down" function to
get focus to actual pdf I am reading then hit "mouse up" function on
my num pad at this point I can use VoiceOvers select function by
hitting "VO return" this lets you select text like when your on the
web and need to grab some text when I am done selecting in pdf I hit
VO return again to stop selection of text and hit the normal commands
to copy then make anchored note in skim and paste it in to the second
text field for my note . The reason I make anchored note is that when
i try to make regular note Vo looses focus and I can't find where to
type in to the note but with anchored note it brings up window where I
can "see" both note fields and pull down for note type at least this
is what I think it is. To sum it up anchored notes is the only
dialogue I can see with VO for making notes.
Thanks for all your hard work
If you would like to talk by phone feel free to call or let me know
when i could call I am located in USA east coast down in Sunrise FL

I have a question for users like Chuck Reichel and others with visual
impairments. I was wondering if it would make sense to add voice-over
support for notes and links in the PDF. Currently you can step through
notes and links using option-tab and shift-option-tab. But voice-over
doesn't notice this. I could imagine this to be useful for you though.
One problem is that the note or link will steal the focus away from
the main text, so voice-over wouldn't read the main text. Currently
the only way to get rid of the focus on the note or link is using a
mouse click, but perhaps that would not be too easy? Perhaps there is
a natural shortcut for removing focus from an element? What would you
do in a browser, where I know links support voice over?
