It really depends on how you use the highlight tool. If you use it as  
a markup for parts of the document that you then want to be able to  
read from within BibDesk you may run into the problem and decide to  
avoid highlighting. But if - as in my case - you use highlight really  
for highlighting it may still be useful. In that regard OCR was still  
helpful to me as if allowed me to apply text markups - even if  
copying and pasting was no option afterwards.
