The problem didn’t had anything to do with the newer Skim version!
Just want to report the solution how the problem got fixed:
The older Skim version was still lying in the Trash, after double clicking
on the file it was trying to connect to the program in the Trash à failure
-10660.
After I emptied the Trash everything worked how it should be.
