Christiaan,

The synctex errors are a red herring, due to a stupid mistake on my part (the 
line number requested was higher than the number of lines in the source file). 
After correcting this mistake, the script worked. As I say in a previous 
message, I think the problem lies in passing the arguments to osascript as 
null-separated strings (see previous message for more details).
