You can use the little popup to choose a page at the bottom.

If you look in the archives of this mailing list for the original thread on the 
split view, you can see that I don't like it at all, and would rather not have 
it in the first place, as it has several fundamental usage problems. I 
compromised in giving what is there. Because I got very tired of the very long 
and circular discussion. Adding more to it, like in the feature requests you 
noticed, would open up those problems, and a whole can of worm.s It's therefore 
not gonna happen. Sorry, that discussion is closed (as I said, if you  think 
the feature is compromised, I am happy to just remove it, that is the only 
alternative.)
