I have been confused by Skim for a while, and I finally figured out one of the
sources of my confusion.

Many times, if I am looking at a page in Skim and I type cmd-N, a note is
created on quite a different page. However, if I type cmd-V, the note is
created on the current page.

For instance, I am looking at page 80 of a pdf. If I type cmd-N the note is
created on page 1 (but page 80 is still shown), but cmd-V creates a note on
page 80. I have screenshots, but it appears that this mailing list doesn’t want
me to include attachments.

I haven’t been able to figure out the rule that determines which page a new
note will be created on—is this supposed to be obvious to me?

And, while we are on the subject of new notes, is it possible that cmd-N would
select the note’s text, so you could just type the note without having to
double-click on the new note in order to select the default text?

Thanks
