Well, it costs you the cost of one SMS message to get the verification code for displaying a mobile number. However, once verified, turning caller ID on and off can be done freely in the account settings. Of course, as I've said before, turning it on doesn't seem to help even if you wanted to show it, it probably won't, so I wouldn't worry.
