Only difference Jack is when you log on to your settings for the list, by
default, your email address is visible to all members and there is an option
to disable this functionn in your settings so only your name is displayed.
Sorry Sarah if this seems a little off topic but needed to point this out to
help us members and Domanique, just to let you know, I find your site useful
but there is a broken link on there due to the web address being mis spelt.

Usually when you have searchable archives that are available online of a
group like this one, the group members email addresses are truncated.
Meaning, the whole email address is not visible. For example, mine
might look like jlow...@neo.....
So unless you know the whole email address, the part that is visible is
pretty useless.

Nowadays most lists are archived and accessible to indexing engines like
Google. I'm not sure if this one is, but I know few lists that aren't.
Unfortunately, this means that posting a message on any mailing list may
subject you to spam, through no fault of the list participants,
moderator,
or list host. I know of no way around this, but it is the reason I
strongly
discourage people from sending mail to a list while also sending the
same
message to private contacts, such as with the Cc line, unless those
people
are also on the same list or don't mind the chance taken.
