No, the scripts and Skype talking do not conflict.
You might want to adjust Skype talking by turning off some output in order
to prevent getting notified twice of such things as your on line status and
the identity of incoming calls. The two approaches are otherwise very
complimentary.

To check the Skype version, type Ctrl+JAWSKey+V in a Skype window.
Skype 4.2 will not let skypeWatch announce sign ins and sign outs,
though you should still get announcements of your status changes
and of incoming calls. The SkypeTalking program is an alternative
way to get sign in/out alerts now.
When you switch from another application back to Skype, you probably
don't land on a contact or conversation list entry. Type Ctrl+1 or
Ctrl+2 for the list you want.
I'll leave question 4 to someone more familiar with that.
