Hello Yvonne.
The hotkey for Skype is a toggle switch in other words if you press it
once
it will mute the microphone and if you press it again it will unmute the
microphone.
I would also advise you to consider a different hotkey for this function
because this hotkey will interfere with the select
Next line command.
To find hotkeys within SkypeTalking. You can use the key describer
control
alt shift k. And to change a hotkey. You can use the SkypeTalking
preferences dialog box which can be accessed by pressing the following key
ctrl alt shift p.

i have been to the options and set a hot key of shift and down arrow to
mute
the microphone tried this on call test and it works but i see no choice to
unmute the microphone in the options hot key section how do i set an
unmute
key for this?
and i am a skype talking user where would i find the settings in skype

Hello Yvonne,
if you open the Skype main window and then go to tools and then
options, and then go down to hotkeys. You will find an option there
that will allow you to set a hotkey for muting the microphone. Simply
select a hotkey of your choice and save the settings.
If you are a SkypeTalking user. There is a hotkey to perform this
function as well and you can configure it to your liking from the
SkypeTalking preferences dialog. Under hotkeys.

how do i mute the microphone during a conversation with someone so
that they cant hear me until i unmute the microphone then resume the
conversation?
is there a key or key combination? or is there a setting somewhere.
i tried pressing the spacebar but that did not work although this was
tested using the skype call test centre don't know if that was the
