I reported an error like this to Skype a couple months or so ago, but I asked in this thread what the error message is, so I can see if the one I reported was the same as the one being seen by other people. If your screen reader tells you you've landed on a Continue button, you should be able to Shift+Tab to an edit box containing the error, or use the JAWS cursor to find it, if I remember correctly.
I did not get this type of error when starting the new 5.3 Skype today, but I think I read here that someone else did see it in that version.
