Hello, Why can't you change it? Let me guess - you can't get to the
button which opens the dialog for configuring the selected hotkey
via the standard keyboard navigation method (with TAB). That is a
known issue in Skype 7.37 and newer and it is not due to the
screen reader - it is a bug in Skype itself. It affects buttons in
at least the following sections in Skype's Options window: Devices
-> Advanced, Hotkeys and Shortcuts. I've reported the bug to
the Skype development team via the Feedback Hub in Windows 10.
Hope it gets fixed soon. However, there is a workaround. You could use object navigation to get to and activate the respective button. While the focus is in the respective list of items (e.g. audio devices, hotkeys or shortcut commands) and the desired item is selected, with NVDA, press NVDA+NumPad 8 once to move the navigator object to the whole list and not the selected item itself (one level up in the object hierarchy), then press NVDA+NumPad 6 a few times to go to the button with the desired action and press NVDA+NumPad ENTER to activate the button. With JAWS, activate the touch cursor with Shift+NumPad Plus, then use the Left Arrow to move to the button with the desired action and activate it with the spacebar.
