My point was that if qt5-5.12 takes too long or won't build, then you
could use qt5-legacy instead of qt5.

If all one has to do is remove & rebuild, surely it's worth the wait to compile to upgrade?  That's what I'll do.  Another option might be if one of almost all pre-built SlackOnly.com (‘slonly’) packages, if you judge them trustworthy.
