What was the failure with the package version?
Yeah, that would be interesting info, wouldn't it? Sorry to space that out.
Basically, /usr/sbin/ntpd would run, but never set the time. Using "ntpdc"
and giving it the "peers" command seemed to indicate it never got a packet
back.
Running "/usr/sbin/ntpd -q -d -d -d" seemed to show that the recvfrom()
system call got interrupted every single time. Output looked like this:
addto_syslog: select(): nfound=-1, error: Interrupted system call
MCAST *****sendpkt(fd=6 dst=66.33.216.11, src=10.0.0.2, ttl=0, len=48)
I could ping the DNS names of the NTP servers, so I didn't experience a
connectivity issue.
I just did a "make uninstall" on the source-code distribution, did an
installpkg from 10.1 CD d1, in hopes of recreating the condition. Alas,
now it works.
This is bizarre. I'm going to reboot sometime this weekend so maybe I can
give a better rundown later.
