Understood, makes sense

As you are probably aware, we are a big user of your JCR-RI, with
Magnolia having surpassed 15000 downloads.

well, this is on the one hand certainly flattering, on the other hand it scares me. the jcrri has never been released and represents 'work in progress', therefor you're using and distributing it at your own risk. i obviously can't guarantee any backwards compatibility as the api is still evolving and the persistence format, for example, is an implementation detail which may be changing until the ri is officially released.

we will not sue you :-)

No seriously, we of course know that and have taken considerable effort to make the transition to the final API as smooth as possible.

Apparently (we have not had any issues since 0.8), the RI is an excellent piece of work, thank you very much, Stefan!

May I assume that the JCR-RI
remains open source?

as i mentioned: the final version of jsr 170 (tck, ri, spec) will be released under a license written by roy (which certainly will be apache compatible).

OK, good news then.

Thanks & have a great weekend
Boris
