*grimace to daemontools* That's a hard sell. Daemontools and other DJBware to the FreeBSD+PgSQL community. Maybe I'm just reminded of running Netscape Enterprise Server on IRIX in a loop. Isn't auto-restarting slon(8) a really bad idea anyway?

The profile support I've added works for 99% of the single-slon-instance
users and adds native multi-process functionality to 99% of the people who
need it.

What I'd like to do if I had some time is create some abstraction between
slony_profilename_flags="" and slony_profilame_args="". One should be
appended to the existing automatically generated flags. One should allow
you to overwrite all flags/args entirely.

Hoping to get the attention of the FreeBSD port maintainer to try it, as

i've been holding my breath for a patch... i'm pretty purple now :-)

but I use daemontools to run/monitor my slon's... so not sure how much testing i can do. i will include it in the port when it is deemed ready for prime-time, though.
