Hi

i think there seems to be some conflict going on within SLP that we need to
clear up before we can progress as a website. I must ashamedly admit haven't
actually contributed much to SLP yet and now I am eager to do so, but on my
part i would first like to know a few details about the current running of
the site:

1) Are we helping HWZ to earn money besides maintaining their server for
them?
2) Do the new members know that we're working with HWZ? Was it made known to
them?
3) Will these deal with HWZ benefit us or lead to anything big?
4) Are we being made use of by HWZ unknowingly?
5) This 1net hosting is sounding more and more sucky the more mails i read.
Can we shift to somewhere more accessible to the rest of the world? The
local market / audience is simply too small. We will FOREVER only be stuck
with a limited pool of readers unless we make the site known and easily
accessible to the world. Yes I know SLP is trying to evangelise Linux to
Singaporeans but the sad truth is, sometimes things need to be recognised by
foreigners before Singaporeans will sit up and take notice. With all the
sponsors and support we're *supposedly* getting, i see no reason why we
can't be independent of HWZ and buy our own server and stuff.

Btw Raymond, if we're using PHP3 for the site then SSI will be rendered
obsolete. There's better ways to get around the problem using PHP3, and you
don't sacrifice modularity of the site or design. How??

PS:
If you read an anti-HWZ sentiment into this mail, u're probably on the right
track. ;) To find out why and to get a FAQ on my view of HWZ, mail me
personally with subject as "lame ass zone". If you want a HOWTO on unveiling
the scandal behind HWZ, put subject as "HWZ Exposed". And if u're really
interested in the subject, you may consider ordering my upcoming book "Web
Site Politics" soon to be available at a bookstore near u ;)))))
