Hey, the design was by you. You have done a lot for the website.
These are good questions.

Ultimately, we are not even going to maintain their server for them.
We just provide consultation service in case they do something
wrong, like "rm -rf *". Nothing more nothing less. Hardwarezone does
their own stuff, we do our own stuff. That will be the arrangement.

I hope they know. In case you all do not know, read the mail archives.

Yes, it certainly does. This whole thing facilitates parallel working,
parallel working on Perl scripts, PHP, developmental mailing lists for
local open source developers, provide webhosting service for Singapore
Linux Conference 2000 (probably for LinuxWorld, in case they have
a problem looking for a host). We also mirror stuff that were not previously
possible. Provide a one stop information center for Linux locally in
Singapore.
About leading to anything big, really anything goes. If we do this
server/website well, our reputation will be enhanced and in case in
the future we want to form our own businesses, we have a reputation
of getting things to work. We can open up companies that deal with
embedded devices, network security, and stuff like that. Asking
money will be easier.
But I really do not know about this. We will see about this, okie?
But of course, Singapore Linux Portal stays as free as possible in
this process.
All these things are not even possible without the server.
> 4) Are we being made use of by HWZ unknowingly?
Our dealing with them will be reduced to pure consultation.
Nothing more. We do not have the time to support them that
heavily.

Boon Hwee, I know. We are trying to resolve this. We are
talking to Compaq, aren't we? We will get those servers, and
we will host our webpages there, and ftp mirrors on Hwz's
servers.
That we have the best of both worlds. UK's people will have
a fast website to refer to, and locals will have a fast ftp site.
Elvin can have all those 40 G for his mirroring for all I care then.
And we can move on to cooler hardwares and resources.
Before that happen, we HAVE to show them we can produce
results, we have to make the website cool, we have to make
it presentable (which you did!). It is improving and hits seem to
be increasing.
If we get the Compaq's server, we will achieve full independence.
I am more excited about this than any of you. Such excitement
cannot even be described by using the word "orgasm". Stay tune
for details.

Okie! PHP3 looks cool, it is C like and Unix like. Reminds me
of myself, cool and sexy. :P You have any experience installing it?
I have my hands tied with a lot of stuff. Admin stuff, stuff that
stops a creative person from creation.
