Hi,

the thread died out on this, but has any decision been made abt the search
engine? I'm coming back to SPORE in a week and have some time b4 starting
work. So, I hope to install the search engine quickly after I built myself
a new computer which is going to happen ASAP.

Are we going with a 'normal' search engine like Dig or one of the others?
Are, do we have big plans to have a database organised website(eg cnet)
using Oracle or Informix? In which case, they have built in serach engines
and we need not do anything.

Lionel

PS : I need some pointers on doing web development work on the machine.
How do u guys normally go about doing it? I don't even know if I can
telnet(naughty naughty) or ssh into it!

a) Is there a hidden path where I can test the installation and
configuration?
b) Have to set up my own apache www server and test it offline on my
machine?
c) Phyiscally go down to the machine site and upload it?
d) Beg, cajole, argue or bribe with Raymond to let me install it..:)
e) linunx.com.sg developer FAQ?

PPS : Raymond, contact u in SPORE for the passwd.
