Yep that's intel....those boxes say for uniprocessor only or something to
that effect. However many have tested and proven that these processors
including the 500 MHZ ones do actually work in dual configuration. Its all
about profit margins for intel...they never thought any end user would want
or need smp so they offer the 'SMP' capable cpus as fuck off expensive
workstation cpus known as Xeon. They currently still have the same core and
are consequently just as able to do smp as their big brothers, although
there is rumor that the SSE celerons designed for 100 meg bus may have the
pins not bonded to the cpu wafer. Goto the web site of
http://kikumaru.w-w.ne.jp/ this is the home website of Tomihiro Kwada -- I
think that is the correct spelling...he was the first person to document and
get to work slot one celerons in smp boards. He has a web based forum type
thing where all dual celeron gurus and wannabes come togeather to chat and
compare notes. The history of those conversations may answer most if not all
of your questions.
Have fun.
My BP6 runs just great with two Celeron 400s.
Hope yours works out too.
