I attempted to setup PPP to my ISP by reading the 'HOW-TO's and got as far as the
modem trying to connect but it always dropped out before the logon completed. Then
found someone who explained how to do it using the red-hat 'Control-Panel' and
everything worked perfectly but requires ppp0 to be 'activated' through control-panel
(Network
Configurator - Interfaces) for it to work. To hangup, 'deactivate' must be clicked.
I now want to (eventually) add dial-on-demand for the clients using packet forwarding
but can't figure out what control-panel is actually doing when I click on the
'activate' button. Anyone know what scripts (all of them) are run when the 'activate'
button is clicked? Ideally I'd like to run these scripts from a console to enable me
to connect and
disconnect without control panel but using the same scripts (that work well). Clues to
where I can find this information would be appreciated.
