INSTRUCTOR/CONSULTANT (Brisbane, Australia)
Responsible for acting as instructor (2-3 weeks per month) in the Red Hat
Certified Engineer program for systems administrators and system
engineers. Junior and senior-level candidates invited. Candidates should
have 1+ years instructional experience and 2+ years administering or
consulting on UNIX and/or Linux server systems; solid experience
configuring network services such as HTTP, DNS, FTP, NFS, etc.; knowledge
of network security methods for Unix and/or Linux systems. Preference
given to candidates who are already familiar with Linux at a system
admin/engineering level. Bachelor-level educational qualifications
preferred but not required for those with demonstrated track record and
strong professionalism. Candidate must have instructional aptitude as well
as good mixture of technical and customer skills. Prefer successful
instructional and/or consulting experience, preferably for a technical
training company, systems integrator, network engineering or consulting
company. Regular interstate and occasional overseas travel will be
a feature of this role.
TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE (Brisbane, Australia)
This position provides the front line of Red Hat's customer support
services, and as such is mission critical to the operation of Red Hat
Linux and its customer base. The primary goal is to respond to customer
support incidents with responsiveness as defined in a Service Level
Agreement. TR responsibilities include:
* Call logging and ticket creation
* Validation of customer eligibility for support
* Collection of problem information
* Establishment of an appropriate severity definition for the incident
* Search of symptoms/solutions knowledge base for known resolutions
* Request for additional information from customer, if necessary
* Definition of action plan and communication of solution back to
the customer.
Job requirements include:
* Ability to work well in dynamic, team environments
* Ability to learn new skills with minimal guidance or formal training
* Previous experience working in a technical support capacity (preferred)
* Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Linux,
UNIX, Intel, Alpha and/or Sparc hardware
TECHNICAL ENGINEER (Brisbane, Australia)
Technical Engineers (TE's) are responsible for escalation management
of all mission-critical customer support issues as defined in a Service
Level Agreement (SLA). TE's will provide support and be responsible
for training and mentorship of Technical Representative (TR) teams.
The TE will also work with Red Hat Engineering and support to provide
quality assurance and to verify and fix defects found in supported
Red Hat products. TE requirements include:
* Ability to work well in dynamic team environments
* Previous experience in technical support organisation
* Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
* BSc or similar degree in a technical field, with an Engineering
or Computer Science background preferred
* Willingness to do whatever it takes to satisfy customer issues
* Experience in three or more of the following technologies:
- Webservers (Netscape, Apache, IIS)
- Linux/UNIX <-> NT integration and network administration
- UNIX network administration (DNS, NIS, NFS etc)
- SMTP site administration (Sendmail, Qmail, Postfix)
- UNIX <-> Netware integration
- Shell proigramming (Perl, Bash, sed, awk, Tcl/TK)
- High-level programming (prefer C, C++ and/or Java)
- Other skills (RAID, NNTP, modems etc)
