Hi, can anyone enlighten me as to what the following lines mean?
192.68.1.1.1270 >192.68.1.56.5632: udp 2
192.68.1.1.1270 >192.68.1.56.22: udp 2
10:05:26.022101 192.68.1.56 > 192.68.1.1 : icmp 192.68.1.56 udp port 5632
is unreachable [tos 0xc0]
10:05:26.022101 192.68.1.56 > 192.68.1.1 : icmp 192.68.1.56 udp port 22 is
unreachable [tos 0xc0]
x.x.1.1 is the server (dialin, mail) x.x.1.56 is connected via modem.
I have pppd sending echo requests, is this it? If it is, why doesn't pppd
drop the connection? (port unreachable may be O.K. as an answer?)
The reason I'd like to know is when these lines come up the connection
"hangs" for a couple of seconds till it gets the "port unreachable" reply.
Also, these lines appear in the middle of (mail) transmitions (it's
supposed to only send when there has been no packets sent).
Any suggested reading on this area?
Regards, Mehmet
