David,
one way to rearrange space is to :
1. identify space usage (cd / ; du -s *)
2. choose a dir you'd like to move somewhere else based on disk usage (du)
3. copy that dir to another partition or drive
4. create a link under the original name pointing to the new location
(ln -s xxx yyy) see man ls.
This is ok for vanilla directories, not recommended for special os dirs.
The result acts like its in the original location, but uses space on the
new location partition/drive.
