Yuck. That'd be _ugly_. If the Mac can run SMB {System Message Block}, use
Samba

Samba is the way to go for Windows versions 95 and greater {95, 98, NT
3.5x, NT 4.x, Windows 2000}. The WindoZe boxes already export their
filesystems via SMB, so it's only a matter of setting up the Linux box to
use Samba.
