A guy I work with had it installed at home a couple of days ago.  The Optus people 
insist on installing it on a Windows box and won't leave the cable modem behind at all 
if they can't do that.  (This guy borrowed a Win95 laptop from work, had the stuff 
installed on it, wiped it off, then brought the laptop back to work the next day!!)

He's using FreeBSD and got it working fine with that.  He's getting about 2 Mbit/s to 
the Aarnet mirror (which is on the Optus backbone).

The only problem he had was with the ethernet card given by Optus.  I can't remember 
the details but I think the card they gave him didn't send a link signal and the 
installers check some box in Windows to not expect one.  I think he managed to get 
Optus to give him a better ethernet card.
