I'll second VIM. As well as context sensitive highlighting you can get
macros for it to insert tags, create boilerplate text etc.
I use the gvim mode which has all the power of vi but with a gui so you
can use the mouse to select text etc (Best of both wolds one might say).
Its fast too.
